My new tank project started today with the concrete base doing in

the tank will go in a 12x9 shed and the tank will be a 8x6x3

the shed and base will be complete by the end of jan and the tank should be built in the 1st or 2nd week in feb

we have made the garden into 2 halfs one for the dogs and the other half for the tank

Wow that's an ambitious project!!

How was the base done, do you have polystyrene insulation under the concrete? Looking forward to regular progress reports from now on until you get the dolphins delivered.

Might pay you to reinforce the shed roof and turn it into a reservoir for collecting rain - your water changes are going to be immense!

you could charge your neighbour for watering the garden, this would be a good use for your dirty water and a shame to send it down the drain, if they are on a metre its expensive to water the lawn in the summer, just a thought,  i love the way your fish get the same portion of garden as the dogs, i have fish and a dog too, i cant wait to see this tank finished, its going to be awesome. di

Plenty of room inside the shed to walk round it and for filtration plant etc. What are you doing for filtration and how does the 24/7 water change work? I'm intrigued by that as I'm doing something maybe similar.

Filtration will be a 6x2x2 sump with 4 x eheim 5000 compact pumps turning over 20,000 lph

it will have 4 x 25w vectron UVs

it will all be controled by a Aquatronica system

http://www.paraquatics.co.uk/en-gb/dept_190.html

the 24/7 water change will have a over flow drain in the sump and 100g per day will be pumped in to the main tank via a 3 stage HMA filter which is the next best thing to a RO unit but no waste water and you dont need to add stuff before the water goes into the tank

http://www.paraquatics.co.uk/en-gb/dept_190.html

this should all be up and running by the end of feb if all goes to plan

...so is the 100g per day being recirculated through the HMA filter rather than being dumped? What will your daily requirement be for mains water for replacement/topping up? Heating by electricity would be very expensive, have you considered any alternatives?

And we're all dying to know what you're going to put in there!!!!!
