Hi, can anyone help me. I'd really like to know if my dalmation molly is pregnant im not sure but she is about 3-4 inches in length and looks rather fat! She is in a tank with a yellow male and another small white female. Ive looked at her belly and i cant seem to find a gravid spot but with her being dalmation it is very hard to tell. she is getting bigger and bigger and starting to resemble a sort of 'J'shape, with her belly being quite sqaure. The white molly is also female but the male doesnt seem to have bothered her at all. she is only about an inch long though and really very small could it be that she is too young? Please ask If anyone would like to see a picture i can try and post one on for you. Also if she is pregnant when should i put her in a breeding trap i would prefer not to put her in there for too long!
Thankyou =]

It does sound like she's pregnant, and due quite soon.. smile But, TBH I wouldn't put her in a breeding trap, they can cause quite a lot of stress to the fish, and cause her to either abort the babies, or give birth to them too soon.

If you give the fry plenty of cover by floating plants a lot of them with survive, can you tank cope or can rehome 50 mollys, let nature take its course and the strongest fittest fry will make it and you will have a nice few additions, remember they give birth every 2 months or so, so it wont take much to overload your tank. di

Is there any way i can tell for sure whether she is pregnant? Should i seperae the fry once they are born into the breeding trap to grow a bit? or would you not recommend it? =S
