Hi looking good.  Yes interesting problem as i suppose you are not sure of the dimensions of the weir and how large an area it needs to be to get too the sump? Does the weir exit the main tank out of the base or through the rear glass?
Latest update 29/4/10 well only got four fish now - 2 syds and 2 B/Ns. All fish are equal.

but its weekend now so should have some updates soon

the weirs will have exit pipes in the base then dorso pipes (probably spelt wrong) to cut out some noise

Hi sorry to hear that, well weekend here now so enjoy.
So i guess you need to keep clear the area the pipes exit - and a way for the pipes to reach the sump? Also the return needs to have a 'route'? Without being able to see the set up its hard to be able to advise.

in and out of hospital will be a big thing for the rest of my life which is one of the main reasons for setting up this tank

with the 24/7 water change thing i should only need to feed and watch the fish

Hi thats certainly a big plus if you can do the 24/7 water change idea. Me still lumping buckets back and forth from my shedd.
If you had the 'base' glass already cut and drilled you could use that to see how the base needs to be done? Or even use a peice of wood cut as a template to see how it all fitted together - just an idea?
All the best for getting better

Hi looking good. Are you thinking of giving the inside of the shed a coat of something to protect it from condensation?

Hi thats quite a base beeing built there. Mind you how much will the tank wiegh when its filled up - any idea's? Are you treating the ply before fitting? As it doesn't like getting wet? Just like to add thanks for sharing and letting us all see how this project is progressing

Hi good idea. espcially the acrylic varnish. It goes on milky like but drys clear. The only thing i would advise on that would be to give it the extra coat as 'acrylic' varnishes are not as hardy/solid as solvent based varnishes. But acrylic dries real quick and is alot less smelly,so an extra coat not a real problem? Have fun varnishing.

tank is coming from a company called ND aquatic

as for cost its expencive because its so deep

if you make the tank 24inch deep or less it can be made in 12mm glass

anything above 24inch deep needs to be 15mm glass and above 36inch deep needs to be 19mm glass

im going for 17mm glass just to be safe and thats £1k more expencive than a tank made in 12mm glass

total cost with sump 2 x weirs and all pipe work fitted £2.8k thats with a optic white front glass 17mm has a nasty green tint which i cant stand

it would have been cheaper to
