A fine example of Ferox not practicing what he preaches

In P@H today and purely on impulse bought a couple of fish without having the faintest clue what they are!!

They were sold as "Sumatra yellow dwarf catfish", and all the assistant could tell me was that according to their suppliers they are "ideal for small tanks". Great help.

There were only 2 and I bought them both, I'd have got more if they had because I fell in love with them on the spot.

Very active, midwater swimming and seem happy hanging out with the silver-tip tetras which are about the same length.

Off to do some serious googling now, but thought I'd share with you lot first

Well they've got more stock coming in at the weekend and I HOPE they get more of these, think I'll take another half dozen minimum. They seem to like each other's company and I reckon they'd shoal pretty tightly, funny, at a glance they could almost be mistaken for some kind of tetra or rasbora, very uncatfish like, what a discovery! I've got them in a 2 footer with psychopathic silver-tip tetras and bee shrimps right now but  I think I'll get rid of the tetras and put in maybe 4 dwarf Corydoras hastatus (which P@H also has at the mo!) and possibly some sparkling gouramis if I can still find any. Perfect miniature community.

I don't know if all branches of P@H carry the same stock, maybe they all get the same stuff from the same supplier, maybe not, but if you want some of these try your own local branch and you could get lucky. I know P@H gets a lot of stick but - and I've said it before on here - I've had loads of fish from my local branch and can't fault them for the quality of their stock and the way they're kept.

BTW I am NOT a P@H shareholder

I never think of going in @H">P @ H for fish, get my dog food there though.
Just a note but if anyone else gets there dog/cat food there check the sell by dates as one bag of dog food was over a month out of date

Yeah, I noticed they don't even bother to put sell-by dates on their fish at all, isn't that illegal? They do in Tesco.

Update on the catfish  - both still alive after 48 hours and seem to be feeding. I was a little concerned about that since the Planet Catfish website suggested that they might need live/frozen food, or might take micropelleted food at a pinch. Tonight I put some normal catfish pellets in the tank (my LFS "own brand"), which are about as large as the fishes whole head, and after some initial curious sniffing they started attacking them with gusto. Very reassuring!
They still tend to stick very closely together but now seem to favour the bottom rather than midwater as they did to begin with. They are very jumpy and hide in the plants when I move near the tank, I'm hoping that they might be a little more relaxed in a bigger shoal. I'm planning to get another half dozen (at least!) and I'll be seriously gutted if the shop doesn't get them in again.

They got more in yesterday (yay!) so I went today and got another 6. Also got 4 dwarf Corydoras habrosus (not hastatus as I said in my previous post). 2 of those pegged it on the way home so I'll have to get them replaced tomorrow. I'm quite excited about this little tank now, just the 2 species of catfish with bee shrimps, all tiny.
