Could the Spell Checker have a "Learn" facility?

:boring:

if you look around, both Firefox and Iexplorer have spell checking plugins out there. i can confirm the Firefox one works reasonably well.

Yes, basically  Wink

I've also had a number of occassions when I've been posting, done a spellcheck and it has highlighted "ordinary" words; maybe difference between UK & American English, I'm not sure.  :-[

I'm sorry I can't give any examples off the top of my head.

Edit: try "gungy" and see what I mean.  :coolsmiley:

lol, yeh i have found things like that. but i simply downloaded the UK English dictionary and the problem was mostly solved. as for the scientific names, most if not all browser based checkers, give you the option of adding words to the database. i just add words as i have need for them.

Asking members to go install third party software isn't an ideal solution, but thanks for the suggestion, they do work quiet well and can be used for all sites if you do install them. The current dictionary does allow words to be added, but I'll have to do it manually :-\

If you guys can live with it for a small while, soon there will be a spell checker with he ability to add words, among other things Wink

Thanks, Gav  O0

In the scheme of things, it's "small potatoes" but every little helps.

the checker in firefox, is far from third party! its a standard part of the best browser currently available. though i don't use it the. the checker i have for IE comes from Microsoft.

I know, however if I recall correctly, you have to install the UK dictionary separately  :Smile. Iespell is third party and guess what 90% of our visitors/users use Wink
