Hi Again! Me again!

Live sand - is there a rule of thumb for how much i should use, on a 3 x 2 x 2 tank ie the perc, would 40Ib be enough or would i need two bags at 40IB?

Would i be better putting in some strips of glass and egg crate and placing sand around the outside of the live rock?

Thanks

I agree.  Live sand is okay for nanos where it will help with the filtration, but for a larger sand I would go for plain coral sand or crushed coral.

Tank1: 125L Tropical. 1 male betta, 4 scissortail rasboras, 3 neon tetras, 4 glowlight danios, 1 candy stripe loach, 1 female bristlenose, 6 amano shrimp.Tank 2: 65L Nano reef. 6kg live rock, 96w T5 lighting, 3 x turbo snails, 5 x red-legged hermits, 1 x peppermint shrimp, 1 small pistol shrimp (hitch-hiker), two percula clowns, 1 neon goby, 1 sun coral, 1 clove coral & 1 tree coral

I didn't bother with it either and wouldn't if I set another reef up. I had no problems.

The LR i started with was cured in the lfs for about 2 months by the time i got it and was also fed phytoplankton so it was full of life aswell Smile

If you empty your old tank out, you could just sprinkle this over any other sand you get.
