Hi Again! Me again!
Live sand - is there a rule of thumb for how much i should use, on a 3 x 2 x 2 tank ie the perc, would 40Ib be enough or would i need two bags at 40IB?
Would i be better putting in some strips of glass and egg crate and placing sand around the outside of the live rock?
Thanks
Matt
forget live sand mate......expensive for what it is.i have my rock on the base with a thin layer of sand around it.
Tank1: 125L Tropical. 1 male betta, 4 scissortail rasboras, 3 neon tetras, 4 glowlight danios, 1 candy stripe loach, 1 female bristlenose, 6 amano shrimp.Tank 2: 65L Nano reef. 6kg live rock, 96w T5 lighting, 3 x turbo snails, 5 x red-legged hermits, 1 x peppermint shrimp, 1 small pistol shrimp (hitch-hiker), two percula clowns, 1 neon goby, 1 sun coral, 1 clove coral & 1 tree coral
I didn't bother with it either and wouldn't if I set another reef up. I had no problems.
The LR i started with was cured in the lfs for about 2 months by the time i got it and was also fed phytoplankton so it was full of life aswell
So would you have it in my Rekord 120?
Rekord 120 3 Black Widow Tetras, 2 Banded Rainbow Fish, 1 Bristlenose catfish, 3 Rummy Nose Tetra

nopewouldnt waste my money.ordinary sand will populate quick enough.spend the change on good live rock.
If you empty your old tank out, you could just sprinkle this over any other sand you get.FD
