Hello all. This chap was a Christmas present. I'm jolly proud of him as generally people seem to think Gouramis are difficult to keep, having a high mortality rate. He's had no problems, but this 'orrible lump has appeared on his throat. It doesn't appear to be causing him any problems, he's still active, in good colour and feeding well...
Sorry - I don't know how to add more than one pic per post so here's the second! I know the images are dark but I'm not looking to win any awards, just show you his lump!
Hmm... looking back at my first post, I'm thinking I should perhaps be more concerned at his complete lack of half his body!? How does he poo?
[Edit] Looking again at that first one, pooing clearly isn't a problem!
It looks like it could be one of two things to me, either lympocystis, or, more likely to be fishy TB. There's not a lot you can do about either, so it's just a case of keeping an eye on him!
Not going to be a problem to anything else in the tank then? Here's one more pic...
No, he shouldn't be, unless he dies and is eaten by the other fish.
Thanks. I'll just have to wait and see...
You should post more pics of your tank toesucker - your pics are great

Thanks! I'd be embarassed to show the whole tank at the moment, I'm getting battered with thread algae and all my Valis died off for no apparent reason!?
It looks similar to a lumb one of our black widows had on the tip of the tail fin. It eventually dropped off and the fish is still alive and well
The other week one of the cardinals had a pickish blob but that has disappeared too and the fish is fine
Might not be the same thing as your gourami, but it does look sort of similar to what the black widow had
Fish Acne!? Thanks for your replies...
You never know LOL
