My nano is turning into a disaster zone! Have lost my Scooter Blenny and my cleaner shrimp! Now looks like me Pulsing Xena is on its way out! Its about 1/20th of its orgional size and looking rather bad.
Water seems fine the clowns are swimming around fine and feeding great. the other corels seem ok as well....
Any Suggestions?
Matt
what is the temp of the tank?? Oxygen problem? Do you have much surface agitation?
Did you scooter look very thin as they can starve in small tanks without lots of natural foods even though they can feed on frozen etc. That happened to me once in a small tank
Just looked at the UV and it would seem that for some reason it was off. Also seems that if the UV is off then it in turn stops the Skimmer from operating!! Have also moved my circ pump to create more movement. Xenia has gone now, gutted....
Whats the temp mate the xenia i had last year died off at around 29
Sorry to hear that mate.
I was hoping you would have said that your cleaner shrimp is actually okay and it's just his skeleton that has shed, but obviously not.
However, I don't know if these 2 instruments being off is the reason, unless you haven't checked all your water parameters.
I'm not sure of the timeline, but is there the possibility that the Coral has died first and polluted teh water?

Well its getting worse, i think it is probably heat, always wondered why chillers are so popular. My Toadstool is looking knackered.....
The temp is about 29. I have done a 30% water change with pretty cold water tonight but still not looking good.
I kept the light off today but is that not going to cause the corels more problems?
Hi sounds like a heat problem to me? Best idea is to do as you already are doing{turning the lights of in the hottest part of the day},put in more air if you can {from a spare air pump?} put a small table desk fan on it during the hottest part of the day.
In my opinion i would be 'cautious' of such large cool water changes?
If you have an external filter - this could be placed in a bucket and filled with cold water and ice cubes topped up regulary.
Also on the bright side? The weather is ment to be cooling down by the weekend?
I also lost a scooter blenny from lack of food, one day it looked great next half starved next day dead
Good luck Matt
Oh dear sorry things aren't going so well in there Matt
reverse the lighting period as has been said if you can.
aim the powerheads towards the surface.
as you have found shrimps and corals do not tolerate high temps. the fish by and large should be ok if there is plenty of 02.
I am really sorry to hear about your losses Matt! I hope it is not putting you off marines now you have your Perc 90 tank.
I am keeping an eye on my nano in the hotter weather. Temp is slightly up (26c) but I think the open top is helping - though I am topping up more.

Thanks for your comments guys. really gutted! I Have provisionally sold this setup with a view to starting a fresh with the perc but am now considering giving up on it altogether!
having just lost around £800 of fish due to whitespot i know how youre feeling mate.
however i have come to the conclusion thats just the easy way out and i must learn from the experience and move forward.
Hi i'll second what imustbedreamin has said
Its hard to take, but we all learn from such experiences {good/bad}and its what makes it such a great hobby
my last marine tank ended up an algea soup thanks to me cutting corners by not using R/O water, i also suffered a wipe out on my marine tank when the medication killed everything in the tank {acept for one tang}, i only lost four fish but my prized threadfin butterfly was three months short of being ten years old! Gutted or what[:'(]
Footnote i treated the tank it turned brown all fish dead within two hours - bearing in mind this tank was also in the living room not nice for the family to witness.I do not have a tank in the house now!
Cheers Guys and sorry to hear about your experiences.
Good and Bad news last night, after have the hood off all day to try and cool it worked! The *** corel and toadstool seem to have come back (toadstool seems to have grown for the experience).
Bad news is i seem to have lost a clown! have looked everywhere and cannot find it! My only idea is that it managed to jump out and the dogs found it before i did.....
DO they jump out?
Nah mate, don't give up, these things just happen now and again.
As for your clown, they're not noted jumpers that I am aware of.
Don't know how long he's been outta sight, clean up crew can put paid to dead fish etc.
