my lfs sells this wood,is this the best type of wood for my tank,I wont be having huge piece,I had small bit of bog wood but it started growing the dreaded black algae,so its now in my garden,if so can it go straight in or should i soak,would it be safe to buy from ebay,any advice would be of help,thanks david

Hi DG,
Both bogwood and mopani are very common and I would recommend either for your tank. Lots of people say you don't need to soak mopani, but my advice would be to soak it anyway and give it a good scrub to remove any 'rubbish'. I always pour a kettle of boiling water over any wood before i add it to my tank to kill any nasties and stop fungus growing, which can sometimes happen on new wood.
