I havnt done it yet! Have syphoned about 10 litres of water on the floor before and it dripped through to downstairs, going to be extra cautious with the external after reading this though. I think its easy to get complacent but when you consider the consequences we should all be a lot more careful with our tanks I think! lol!

Yes we can get complacement sometimes,i always have a 'spare' towel at the very least at hand,and keep checking for an hour or so after i have finished doing the filter - i must be going senile
