A fee like that then i'm pressuming it's a new estate where BT isn't established much yet. A freind of mine had the same problem a few year ago and couldn't get cable either so had to stump up the money to BT to get a line!! At the time I think it was about £100!!
I had noticed you were quiet but didn't know why. Hope you get it all sorted soom mate ;)
I had to pay the BT fee for my second broadband line..I only cancelled my second line 3 months before to
Its a new build so needs an engeneer to goto the then exchange and activate the line!!!!! Thats £125
Thats the same for 4 removal guys for 2 hours to help us move the heavy stuff!!!!!!
Still BT has wired the flat and put in all the connections and phone line for free so far.
Helter
if there paying a bloke £125 to put a bit of wire into a sockt in an exchange then i want that job,goo luck with the move
Thing is that guy will probably be getting about £12.50 from that job.
Good luck with the move mate and hope your on more regularly soon once you've got everything sorted.

HelterSkelter: Still BT has wired the flat and put in all the connections and phone line for free so far.
It not free - your paying £125 for it!!!
Hi good luck with the move Helter
Indeed
I've just had to stump up the same amount for BT to connect me in my new flat.
I thought at the time that it was a rip off and still do.
i tried to get sky broadband but i cant as "BT" havent upgraded my area and no plans for the future,so i can only have "BT" broadband

Good luck in your new home Helter. I had to pay a similar fee as I live in a new build, its a pain in the bum but what can you do? They've got you by the proverbials!!
