i have a 2.5 g tank with quite a few plants it started off with 3 corys, 3 endlers and 3 pgmy barbs but they slowly got killed off
the corys are fine hiding in the shipwreck but the endlers keep going, i had 3 then went down to 1 then brouhgt 2 more and those 2 just died and i cant find their dead body!! the barbs went when i changed the water or a few days after the water was changed
the water stuf is fine, nitrite 0 nitrate is really high but that been there all the time and its the same level in the big tank, the hardness is v.hard but its the same in the tap water. i dont have an ammoinia test cos its the sticks dont have that.
hope someone can help

hi, jodie, sounds as if you dont have a filter and they will die of ammonia poisening without a filter. di
Always remember that you are unique; just like everyone else.
Hi could be a 'bad' batch of fish?
But we need more info so we can help out more - like how big the tank, lighting, filter, how old etc the more info you can give us the more chance we have of sussing out the problem!
it has a small stingray filter, lighting but i need to lift the lid as it get over 28c it the lid is left on, no heater cos at night the lowest it goes it 24. about 3 bog leaved plants, 1 weird plant dont know wht it is and 1 split in to 2 small leaved plants. It does get alot of algae and it has loads of snail. its been running for about 3-5months but has been up n running a few times before this.
if you need anymore info just say
I suspect the type of filter you have means that you have to replace the filter cartridge every few weeks, basically having to recycle the tank and causing ammonia and nitrite spikes. I think it the type of filter you have thats causing the problems, di
Hi i think Fishyfeet could be right? Are you changing all the media at the same time? Is there much muck in the tank?
Are there any bubbles on the surface? If so do the burst quickly or slowly?
Finally keep plugging away together we will sort it
Do you spray anything in the room like deodrant, air freshner(or plugin), purfume, flyspray, furniture polish etc? If so then that will be poisoning the water.
EDIT* get the ammonia checked either at an lfs or buy a kit as you REALLY need to know if there's any in :)
I think Jodies filter is very similiar to one i had when i first started and they basically have a cardridge that has sponge and charcoal in them and you change the whole thing every fortnight, hense distroying any bacteria build up and starting again. If you look up stingray filters it says they take cartridges so the thing comes as a whole section which you discard one its absorb its optimum amout of waste products. di
