Welcome to FC ramirezaemmy :)

Sorry but I'm not clued up on cichlids enough to advise but welcome to FC Smile

Could you tell us more about your tank setup, ie; size, filtration, companions etc as this will help others ID and give more advice if needed on setups Smile

There is a picture of the tank setup I have for my new companion.  The person I bought the fish from told me that I can only have this fish in my tank because he is very territorial and will kill/eat anything that comes in his way.  He seems harmless but thats just me :)  Hopefully this is some help!  So far he loves his new tank but I am unsure what to feed him.  I gave him Pond Pellets (for goldfish) and he did eat them but I know this isn't the proper food for him.  The man I bought him from told me he is a carnivour.

 Hi there Ramirezwave

I am not a cichlid expert, but I would have said yours isn't a convict as they have well defined dark markings, but then I didn't know there were albino convicts too.

Nope :( I was having tons of problems with him in thebeginning as well! His tank was very fishy smelling but after about two weeks of scrubbing up his aquarium the best I could it does'nt smell anymore!  Not sure what that was but now he is great! He is very aggressive though I am shocked :)

hi ram

haven't been on here for a while.the fish you have is a red devil used to be cichlasoma citrinellum is now called amphilophus citinellus.judging by the slope of the forhead its a female males get large nuchal humps.these fish get very large in excess of a foot and usually are aggressive.they also need very large tanks even if kept alone.a lot of people keep single specimens as they make great pet fish.i hope this helps check out some pics let me know what you think.

            cheers dev
