look at the light tubes you have - should tell you there wattage (9,18,24,36,55W are all common), then work out how much water you've got in the tank (width x depth x height in metres) this gives you the total water in litres. Divide by 4.55 to get gallons then simply divide total watts of tubes by gallons.

Was meaning to ask about your Rena 120 - you've listed it as 250 litres - i thought they held more than that?
Mines a 120x40 and 250l is when its empty. the 120x50 holds more
