Just back from a jaunt to the lfs where I saw some gorgeous little Apistos which had just come in labelled as Apistogramma cuckoo. The staff could tell me no more than this.
Anybody know anything about these? The name doesn't google up. They were about an inch long, mainly black and white in colour and those that I took to be male had a 'scalloped' edge to the caudal fin.
Sorely tempted!

I didn't see it written, but I did ask twice and they definitely said cuckoo and even spelt it!
Found cockatoo apistos on the net, didn't look right although the lfs ones may be juveniles.
Tempted to get some anyway.

Found this;

Not a lot to go on, but it suggests the cuckoo is a variety of Apistogramma cacatuoides

never known any of the apistos to go by that name around here but it will be much the same as any of the other dwarf cichlids to look after i would think.
