8-10 inch is a good sized adult

4ft for a pair

They need to be kepet some where quiet, as their very skitish fish and easily get stressed.
So no loude music, and away from Door's and stuff.

To be honest, i don't think i would keep just a pair, incase things get nasty, because one might turn on the other and then you might end up with just one fish!

I saw a poster yesterday and it said this fish (which was a red bellied piranha) can grow to 35cms and would need a tank this size. It was the size of a small carSurprise

The guy in the shop told me that they are going to put these fish in their huge display tank. We saw the same setup in another branch a few years ago. The tank is big but still not big enough as he said himself.

They are also schooling fish... think tetras... big tetras with teeth.  Fron what I have heard you should keep at least 6.
