Hi guys
Been a member since 2005, but not been around for about 18months so thought would re-introduce myself,
Had a planted community tank (Jewel rio) for a couple of years, but had to give it up when moved house in december last year due to lack of space
When to local pet store last sat to pick up some cat food and there was a little 80 litre Orca tank and stand for £90 that would fit perfectly next to the PC (well once i moved the furniture about )
So tank cycling (slowly) and have decided on plenty of live plants (if can manage it in small tank), with some shrimp - still deciding on tankmates tho!
Good to be back!
welcome back cergon
Sounds like a good deal you got there. There's alot of different shrimps available these days so have a good look at which ones you can get, size etc.
If you go for fine substrate like sand or fine gravel up to 1/8th ish cory's like pygmy's, panda's, flagtails etc will be great in a shoal
Nice shoal of Oto's for algae.
Betta splendens (siamese fighters) will eat small shrimps like bee and red crystal if small so be careful on fish stocking
Quite a few options for small fish, just be careful not to get carried away if you don't have room for more tanks lol
If you want a betta splendens then i'd opt for a larger shrimp than bee's and red crystals, something like red cherry, yellow or larger (but smallish) Amano's
Hey welcome back, sounds like a nice tank you have planned, i think a betta would eat amanos to be honest, di
Thanks guys,
Got some Caribsea Eco-Complete as substrate as a friend of mine swears by it. Thought would give it a go as all my previous set-ups have just used 'standard gravel'.
Am aware of the overstocking tempation, so will really only choose the fish to complement the plants rather than the other way around (if that makes sense ). Also not to sure about the built in filter, it looks like it could do the job as designed for sponge/bio balls/ ceramics hoop thingys, but will have to wait and see, I still have a external canister from previous set-up if needed.
Am really only looking for maybe 6-10 small colourful fish as focal points and maybe some corys for lower tank depending on their requirements as they prefer company i understand. I gave away a breeding pair of bristlenose plecs when removed previous tank and they are still breeding in new home (at my brothers), so could get one of the offspring, but again not sure if enough space (tank is 18" x 18" X 18" approx) when considering fully grown size.
lol Sorry to run on
Great to see another 'old' face back!

My betta hasn't touch any of my amano's, yes some red crystals but no cherry shrimp or amano's. I guess it depends in the individual temperment of the fish.
Welcome back to FC.
