Hi, I purchased these 2 rams yesterday as a "pair", but im not convinced that they are. I think i've been sold two males. First, this is the one that the LFS said to be a male.
And this is the other,
Could anyone help confirm the sexes?
The first two spines on the dorsal fin are longer than the other spines on the male. The female also tends to be a lot smaller and plumper.
It's always been quite obvious in the pairs that i have bought before - so i can't be 100% sure but i would say you've got 2 males. Do they get on or row with each other?
They are very nice specimens though.

Yes, the larger in the first pic is chasing the smaller one a lot.
No expert on these fish, but I agree with Dave, looks like 2 males.

males generally tend to have more elongated dorsal and anal fins and the female a reddish belly and rounder stomach (fatter)

Rekord 70
Im sorry but im not sure..................
oh quite a lots, bolivian rams have different shaped faces intirely and arnt as well coloured, they are also more docile and more able to cope with hard water. this is a blue ram, i dont have him anymore they dont seem to do well in hard water areas.
pic of bolivian ram
One's Blue and the other's Bolivian?
Sorry, that ain't helpful is it!
it does look like a male and female, however subordinate males will not have extended dorsals in a group where there is dominant male
in any case, you can't just chuck a male and female togther and expect them to go at it, they ain't guppies!
