My x2 Blue Acara's (approx 5" each) that i have had for about x2 weeks have laid eggs.

This happened in-between 2am and 9am Monday morning, i know this as i was watching them eagerly preparing to spawn, and at 9am there was eggs (stopped watching them at 2am)

So now, its 19:45 Weds, the eggs were laid between 52-59 hrs ago.

My concern is, about 30% of the eggs (there must 100-200 in total) are completely white, i am used to seeing some white eggs from egg layers but never this money. The other 70% (approx) are the normal light brown colour.

The white eggs are not grouped together, they are spread out.

I was wondering if the whole batch is likely to be no good, OR if the other ones havent turned white by 52-59hrs after being laid are they likely to be fertile and ok?

Obviously i'll know in about another 12-18 hrs?

Whats the average time for them to hatch, if you say x3 days, i assume thats approx 72 hrs? I am working in hours here LOL

There are pics of the Acara's on another recent thread, perhaps they are both females?

fertile eggs will "eye up" after around 50hrs.

they will get a dark spot.....you will know they are fertile by looking at them O0

the pair is probably young hence the scattered formation and the poor fertilisation rate Smile

thanks, yes i am not used to seeing eggs scattered around the whole pot like this.

I cant see if they are "eying up", cant get a good enough view.

By the time morning approaches it would have been in-between 72-80 hrs since they were laid and they would have surely hatched by then?
