Hi Nicola :wave:
I found with my rays getting them settled in and used to there new food was the hardest part!Now they are settled they are always looking for food and are very active!
Best advice get them used to your local tapwater then water changes will be easier,and try and get them on frozen food as this is generally better for them,but the occasional worm wont go amiss{mine reluctant to eat anything else!}.Also if the rays are young then they are best kept in a bare tank as the sand causes breathing problems{this is how i kept mine for about 3 months-slowly add sand over a period of time and they soon get used to it and burying themselves}
Good luck  O0

congratulations!! by far the most interesting species in my eyes as they do interact well. dont know if this will help or not but as a precaution for the water i use a polyfilter to take out the impurities between water changes, theyre not cheap but have given me peace of mind

Thanks stingrays, we don't know how old they'll be when we get them, we're hoping that they're going to be adult, or semi-adult. It's not going to be a problem with water either, we have vast amounts of RO on tap, so we can mix up pretty much any water we need to. Smile

It's the feeding of them that i'm mainly worried about.. hopefully we won't have to dig up too much ground to get the worms! Any other tips on feeding?

worms, shrimp, prawn, smelt, whitebait, lancefish, cockles, mussels,......basically any meaty food...& you need to feed well 2-3 times a day, my pair get through about 100g -120g a day.( 12 & 14" disk).... but they are well worth it.

If you can't be bothered to do it right, don't bother to do it at all

Just an update.. it seems as if your ro unit is naff.. the gh and kh of the water that comes out of it both come out as 2, so the ph is stuck at 7.5 at the mo! it's quite infuriating!  :tickedoff:

not yet... but the other problem is that we've got two polys in the tank and they're not happy... they where kept in lower ph then they're in now in their other home so, if we can lower the ph it'll be better for them..

Hi polys are usually pretty hardy fishes,and pretty adaptable,so they should be ok? As a matter of interest do have any idea how old they are?
I have found older fishes much less adaptable?
